Leading Reform Groups Endorse Bill Perkins
Two of the leading forces for reforming Albany - Citizens Union and Citizen Action - announced their support for State Senator Bill Perkins. Both cited Bill Perkins' leadership and record of fighting the status quo in Albany. Of the twenty-four state legislative contests it evaluated, Citizens Union expressed support for only six are incumbents."Citizens Union supports Bill Perkins in the primary in senate district 30 as the best candidate in the race to deliver much-needed change in Albany. By sponsoring landmark legislation making New York State's hundreds of authorities more accountable and transparent, Bill Perkins has helped to deliver arguably the most significant reform of governance in Albany in recent years. His efforts to grant the Comptroller the ability to audit charter schools is aligned with the values of openness and responsible government that Citizens Union advocates for. Perkins also is a strong supporter of creating an independent redistricting commission, a top priority of Citizens Union's reform agenda. While other legislators too often do little more than talk about reform, Bill Perkins is actually achieving results. Perkins' action on reform issues, wide-ranging knowledge on policy ranging from education to eminent domain and his passionate commitment to his district to ensure affordable housing makes him Citizens Union's preferred choice in the September 14th Democratic Party Primary Election."

Perkins running hard... and winning
Running the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run on Saturday, State Senator Bill Perkins finished first in his age group -- for the second straight year -- and certainly outran every other politician. More than 1,800 runners and walkers participated in the race honoring the late Percy Sutton. Proceeds from the 5K race and the health walk went toward the William J. Clinton Foundation for the Children of Haiti.
