State Senate Passes Perkins Clean Air Legislation; Applauded by Mayor Bloomberg, Environmental Leaders
The State Senate passed Sen. Bill Perkins sponsored clean air legislation to reduce the sulfur content of home heating oil. It requires that heating oil have a sulfur content of fifteen parts per million (ppm) or less. The bill will make it easier for New Yorkers with respiratory conditions to breathe, and it will help reduce acid rain. Health, environmental and labor advocates applauded passage of this important legislation.

The Sojourner Truth Democratic Club Collects More Than 1,890 Perkins Petition Signatures in First 5 Days
The Sojourner Truth Democratic Club announced that their members alone had collected more than 1,890 signatures in the first five days of petitioning to get State Senator Bill Perkins on the ballot for re-election. Candidates for State Senate are required to file 1,000 signatures from eligible district primary voters by July 15th to qualify for the ballot.
"The enthusiasm for Bill Perkins, both from our members and from voters we meet on the street and at their doors, is tremendous," said Sojourner Truth Club President Parnell Sena. "While there is frustration about politics, there is a lot of love for Bill Perkins. They appreciate that Senator Perkins is not afraid to stand up for the people, that he is fighting to increase transparency and accountability and that he is independent and getting results. We are excited by what we've done so far, and look forward to getting out and collecting more."
